This was one of several lightning episodes I shot from in, or an easy stroll of, the small local motel where I was staying for the night. Here, from the building’s south-facing upstairs balcony, three cloud-to-ground strikes appeared to have a common source, beneath a dimmer burst of crawlers, all erupting in one visually perceived flash. Horizontal red lines are taillights along Interstate 10, in the time exposure. What a memorable and fun night! Seldom has a lightning shoot ever been more convenient.
