Nothing but the wind, whistling through windows long ago broken, occupies this abandoned stone barn in Adair County, Oklahoma. All across the Plains states and into the Ozark hills, lingering testaments to pioneer craftsmanship slowly crumble in silence and solitude. One of the bittersweet experiences of photographing these edifices is imagining the sights and sounds of the activity that once took place within their walls, never again to be seen or heard there.
