Elke had been imploring me to shoot zoom photos of this snowy egret darting through surf’s edge at Sanibel, and I’m glad I took her advice. It had been plucking occasional small fry, but then snatched and swallowed one particularly large, wriggly morsel. Ecstatic at its accomplishment, the egret fluffed its feathers and shook with obvious delight, while still strolling. Somehow my only good shot was right during its 1-2 second interlude of bird-bliss.
