Celebrating Hollywood’s (Too-Slow) Downfall

February 11, 2020 by tornado Leave a Comment

I certainly hope the “age of celebrity” is dead, as this short essay claims. I’m under no illusion that idol worship is, however. Hollywood celebrity culture will continue to genuflect to its own altar and regard itself vastly out of proportion to its true importance, as will a “progressively” smaller yet shrill array of sycophants.

Out here in the real world, it’s not surprising that so many everyday folks have tuned out the hollow, hypocritical, secular sanctimony of the wealthy Hollywood elites, who are experts at far fewer topics (namely acting, singing, producing, directing) than they act like. The key word here is “act” — fakery being their one best skill, pretension being the next. O, let’s not forget covering up the horrendous sins of its own. What a filthy, rotten-to-the-core culture!

I had no clue the Oscars were on a few days ago, until I saw tweets about the show afterward. It looks like I didn’t miss anything important. I don’t count as “important” the ill-informed opinions of airheaded celebrities regarding sociopolitical issues, especially when they gleefully celebrate and participate for many years the very culture that promotes such vices as slaughter of unborn babies, extramarital sex, sexual assaults (decades of permissiveness and enabling toward Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein, anyone?), pollution, and coercion.

Illustrating that point, the ratings for the Oscars reached an all-time low this year, at 23 million. My response: There were that many? I quit watching that pompous, arrogant, wasteful, self-absorbed, self-congratulatory, insular, soft, sheltered, hedonism-infested gaggle of Dunning-Kruger dimwits known as Hollywood award-show participants long ago. I’m far from the only one who has, it seems…yet the interviewees in this story are so insulated and clueless they blame everything but the real problem. That is this: we don’t give a damn anymore!

Not with My Wife in There!

April 21, 2016 by tornado Leave a Comment

Let me explain some basic genetic science chromosomally:

XX = female (homogametic)
XY = male (heterogametic)

There’s your gender. Anything else is science denial. Regardless of what one wants to be, or pretends to be, that fundamental, biological truth is inescapable. [I’m not interested in entertaining minuscule-fraction XX/XY genetic syndromes either; that’s beside the point here, a tangential straw-man, not at all relevant to the argument.]

Genetically, you are as you popped out of the womb, no matter your act, no matter your appearance, no matter your presentation. The XX or XY with which one is born stays in every single cell regardless of any cosmetics, desires or pretending to the contrary. Thus, since trying to be something you’re not is fundamentally dishonest, pretending womanhood when you’re male (or vice versa) is a big, fat charade–a lie. Yes, lie…which makes every “transgender” (get ready for it)…a liar, a pretender, a poser, inauthentic as a $3 bill. That completely inverts and falsifies their claims to being “true to oneself”, and is a foundational self-contradiction.

To really be true to oneself, go into your own private bathroom, undress, look between your legs, take careful note of what’s there…and act like it. If you want to pretend to be something you’re not, do it at home, an acting stage, or a drag-queen parade…not in a bathroom with my wife.

“Two men say they’re Jesus, one of ’em must be wrong.”

      Dire Straits

I love that line, because it fundamentally calls out fakers for who and what they are. On some days I may wish I were a ghost, invisible! That doesn’t make me one. When I was a kid I wished I were a flying superhero. That didn’t happen, no matter what costume I wore and how much I yelled about saving the world. I put on a football uniform and threw passes really far for a little street-rat punk; that didn’t make me Roger Staubach no matter how much I pretended to be him. Perhaps I wish I were a holy man, a prophet, a savior to the world. Some people are delusional enough to think they are; but there was, is, and will be only one Jesus the Christ.

Wishing or behaving or dressing as a woman wouldn’t make me one, period. Nor does it anyone else on earth. And if “gender” is just an “identity” and not physical, why bother with the ‘nard-carving, the hormones and the makeup? Therein lies another basic self-contradiction in the whole deal.

Still, does that mean one can’t carve up one’s gonads surgically and pretend to be something they’re not? No. I don’t understand that mentality; it’s bizarre and twisted, but in the libertarian sense, one has the right to do with one’s own body as one chooses. [This, of course, excludes abortion, where the life of another complete genetic human being within the body is at stake in a potential homicide situation.] One even has the right, under the same document I cite below, to play-act like they’re a dudette when they were born a dude, at that drag parade.

Invert your organs, shave your legs, put on dresses, wear heels, splash on the Eau de Fakerie Parfum, whatever. You have that right and I will not deny it. I also have the right to criticize it, to call it a forgery, a delusion, a lie. I will continue to do so, and there’s nothing anyone can or will do about it. Why? It’s something the purveyors of perversion might not know about called the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. That’s the supreme law of the land. Freedom of speech, folks: learn it, live it, love it.

Nevertheless, let’s now assume for argument’s sake that no surgical or wanna-be “transgender” person ever did anything wrong in a bathroom, anywhere. Let’s consider the other posers: those pretending to “identify”. It is their very existence, above all else, that nullifies any and all arguments for “gender-neutral” bathrooms.

Yet under “identity” rules and laws spreading nationally like a contagious mental disease, anybody can decide he is a woman (or a girl, if in K-12) for the day, and stroll unquestioned into the women’s latrine or locker room. Postal-poster perverts and pedophiles the nation over are foaming at the possibilities. Genderless bathrooms elsewhere already have encouraged voyeurism. Peeping Toms now only need to “identify” as tomboys to succeed at peeping. Just call oneself “transgender” or “I identify as…”, and you’ve got license to leer. How far into the toilet have we gone, as a society, to allow lecherous leeches to have lawful access to their targets by means of “identifying” as something they’re not? All of that is batshit insane! What about the rights of the women and girls in that restroom?

If you’re a dude, and my wife, daughter or sister are in a public restroom, you’re not going in there, period. No man is going to be exposing himself around the ladies I love, if I can see it coming. I don’t care if you think you’re a woman at that time. I don’t care if you think you’re a dog and start barking on all fours. I don’t care if you “identify as” Mork the Alien and start chanting “Nanu Nanu”. It doesn’t matter what delusion of otherness you have. It’s not happening.

If “the law” says you can go in there, that’s a bad law; I’m still keeping you out until my loved ones are done. Like Rosa Parks on the “colored section” of that bus, I’m not morally obligated to follow an immoral law, an inverted Jim Crow statute that allows anyone to access any restroom if they feel like it. The safety and well-being of those I love matters more than somebody’s delusional “identity”.

Quotations and Persuasions

January 28, 2012 by tornado Leave a Comment

Plenty of folks like to cherry-pick quotes that support their ideals. It’s a common phenomenon that knows no single ideology or sociopolitical slant. I’ve resisted doing this in the past because I’ve engaged instead in decades of independent thinking for myself, instead of regurgitating others’ material. It’s why, except in humor, I don’t drop names and drop quotes at the end of e-mails, BLOG posts, boards, and other fora.

Yes, quotes can be taken out of context; whereas others speak quite loudly for themselves regarding the viewpoints of the speaker or writer. Often, we don’t know which. You decide.

As I’ve matured, however, I’ve come to see that quotations, especially multiple ones across a spectrum of time from one person, or across a spectrum of many people regarding an idea, can be quite revealing of that person or that idea. Get me here?

Good. Because I ask of you, dear reader, two favors.

First: consider the quotes below in a compare/contrast context with regard to modern atheist arguments.

Second: do NOT–I repeat, do NOT–look up, Google, or otherwise, the source of these quotes,
until after you have read every last word of this BLOG entry. Then verify them for yourself.

Christianity is a rebellion against natural law, a protest against nature. Taken to its logical extreme, Christianity would mean the systematic cultivation of the human failure.

The reason why the ancient world was so pure, light and serene was that it knew nothing of the two great scourges: the pox and Christianity.

The heaviest blow that ever struck humanity was the coming of Christianity.

We’ll see to it that the Churches cannot spread abroad teachings in conflict with the interests of the State.

Originally, religion was merely a prop for human communities. It was a means, not an end in itself.

The best thing is to let Christianity die a natural death. A slow death has something comforting about it. The dogma of Christianity gets worn away before the advances of science. Religion will have to make more and more concessions. Gradually the myths crumble. All that’s left is to prove that in nature there is no frontier between the organic and the inorganic. When understanding of the universe has become widespread, when the majority of men know that the stars are not sources of light, but worlds, perhaps inhabited worlds like ours, then the Christian doctrine will be convicted of absurdity.

Hmm…does that mentality sound familiar? Think about those quotes first, then scroll down for further instructions.

This man was responsible for those quotes*. He also was responsible for the murder of millions of innocent people–around 11 million, comprising about six million Jews and 5 million Gentiles either of other faiths, or no faiths at all. He wrought incomprehensible degrees of evil that will haunt mankind for the foreseeable future, yet even he and his diabolical horrors are being forgotten or even denied in many quarters.

This man clearly and obviously was NOT a Christian, based on his worldview as revealed in those private quotes, but instead a poser, pretending to be religious in public for the sake of manipulative populist propaganda. If anyone you know claims he was Christian, send them here…claim resoundingly refuted!

Indeed, he was a false prophet, of the kind long warned.

Hitler wasn’t the only false prophet in history, and will not be the only one to come. Only now, in the illumination of history, do we see this. Millions of gullible Germans (and even a nontrivial number of neo-Nazis today) did/do not see this.

Beware the next, and the next, and the next false prophet (there will be many).

The next false prophet, whether worldwide or only in your personal sphere of influence, may arrive in far more subtle, persuasive and “nice” packaging. He/she likely will not be obvious, at first anyway. He may look and sound really smart, compassionate, understanding, and speak ever so eloquently in your language, perhaps even directly to your heart. “He” may be “she” (~50% chance, biologically speaking). He/she may write or speak of love, kindness, tolerance and peace–playing the Utopian angle oh so well.

He/she might preach not of religion, but of non-religion–of “science, logic and reason” as the ultimate answer to everything, and of the “badness” of religion based on what people have done. [That insidious tactic conveniently projects a supposedly nonexistent “God” onto imperfect people for his/her argumentative benefit, in what amounts to a massive anti-God ad-hominem!]

Your next false prophet might not be even a famous figure, but a neighbor, friend, lover, or instructor, offering a very enticing, alluring, and sensible-sounding worldview for you to buy, whether posing as a “Christian”, or whether otherwise “religious”, New Age, humanist, secular, “tolerant”, or entirely anti-religious.

Be advised, be alert, and be aware. Enticing deceptions and diversions lurk throughout this world.

Oh, and as for my supposedly “independent” thinking? No, not completely. I’ve been wrong and arrogant to claim my thoughts entirely as my own, no credit elsewhere. Thinking–yes, including science, logic and reason–is a gift from God–a powerful tool for our use or abuse. Thought is an imperfectly used gift/tool, for sure (by having free will, I’m a sinner just like everybody else). And every day I try–not always succeed, mind you–to use that gift for, not against, its ultimate origin.

@erikfox2000 @chaser_summit @ReedTimmerAccu @iCyclone It’s cool. You can’t be everywhere, all the time. You did a great job organizing this, and getting Dan in as a last-minute replacement.

@NJBeisner Get out my pocket knife and cut off the bottom part. It better be readily obvious what I am. If not, their problem…not mine.

@jamesaydelott @Mark_Baden @lucky13wxman Here’s something real to think about. It landed right at the latitude of Purcell, OK. Had its trajectory been identical, but a little over an hour earlier, that crater would be in central Oklahoma. Can you imagine?
