These represent an alternative commentary on hackneyed fads now pervading operational meteorology. Each contains more than a nugget of truth!
Collaboration can be beneficial when the most expert and accurate input prevails, and the least expert set their egos aside and yield to the most. In practice, that’s a pipe dream. In the name of forced consistency, “collaboration” typically results in dilution of the greatest level of expertise by either the average (“consensus”), or lowest (least expert, when most influential). Either way: degraded service instead of true excellence!
