In the most spiritually reverent rainstorm scene I’ve experienced, Salzburg’s amazing collection of historic church domes gather together, glistening in the rain, with northern fringes of the Alps as a backdrop. Kollegienkirche (Collegiate Church) has the black roof and black dome with turquoise-shaded green cupola. The inside of the big green dome at rear left, part of the Salzburg Cathedral along with the two smaller, midrange green cupolas, was featured from within for a previous Image of the Week, looking up! The smaller, more-distant red dome belongs to the Nonnberg Abbey. You can see a side view of these structures and the city fortress in another Image of the Week, in twilight.
