While in town for the total solar eclipse two days later, relaxing in a hotel room and admittedly not gazing outside as usual, golden-hour sunshine blazed out from behind some western clouds and illuminated much of the downtown Dallas area, then in turn, the inside of the room. That got my attention! Something about the contrast between the angularity of the high buildings and the clean, blue, stratocumulus-textured, springtime sky, compelled not just visual but photographic attention. It was a peaceful, serene scene set smack amid a chaotic, noisy city. It wasn’t my first use of the tallest skyscraper for a cloudscape foreground, either!
