Just before sunset, on a warm late afternoon by Icelandic standards (50s F temperatures), glacial ice floated across the Jokulsarlon lagoon from its origins in the volcanic island’s ice cap. The scene was every bit as serene and quiet as it looks along this corner of the lake, with the only sounds being the light breeze, an occasional shorebird’s chatter, and occasional splashes from falling ice.
